KILLING TIME AND CLEANING EQUIPTMENT
A little bird told me the guys had their mail put on hold about a month ago, and are mostly sitting around and spanking the monkey. Everybody is in Jallalabad waiting to go home. The new battalion's leadership is now calling the shots and they are probably trying to reinvent the wheel, so I imagine nothing important will happen until the guys hit the ground in Hawaii.
I would like to thank all the Marines and Marine families of Weapons Company for doing our heavy lifting for us. Reading and listening to the efforts of the company in theater has been a wonder. Nobody has done more in the same period of time to turn things around in Afghanistan. The guys who will not be at the flag waving parade will always be remembered as heroes to me.
I am also coming to the conclusion that the liberal use of force is being denied to often to our troops on the ground and that a little more brutality will be needed to convince either the Taliban remnants, or Iraqi insurgents, that it is time to give up. Every good Muslim understands the use of force prior to peaceful negotiations, and those who aren't forced at gun point don't make binding deals. Keep killing them hot and heavy until they come to talk, and then shake their hand. Never let them forget that they owe their lives to the mercy of the United States Marine Corps. The humanitarian shit is just a side job where some good nature and compassion shines through, not the main event.
I hope we will support the new guys at Salerno and outside of J-bad.
